Minutes of the meeting of Gosberton Parish Council held on 19th January 2026
 
Present: Cllr J Clark, T Smith (Chair) N Oakman, G Firth, S Weatherly-Barton, I Hobling, D Leworthy, J Ascough and F Newton (Clerk)
 
Also in attendance: One MOP
 
Open Forum: Member of the public raised concerns about the speeding traffic along Belchmire lane opposite the junction of Wargate Way. There is access to a property at this junction, the occupants have taken steps with signage to warn motorists of the access but is concerned that it is an accident waiting to happen, Council agreed to raise the matter with LCC.
 
677. To resolve to accept Apologies for Absence and reasons given in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972 s85(1): No apologies received
 
678. To receive declarations of interests and considerations for any requests for dispensations in accordance with the Localism Act 2011 and remind Councillors to keep their declarations up to date with SHDC- The Clerk reminded Councillors to update any interests with SHDC

The Clerk reported that a number of residents are walking their dogs in the cemetery and although the majority of dog waste is picked up it is being disposed of in the waste bins which are there for flower waste etc. It was agreed that a dog waste bin situated on the railings near the gate so that it can be emptied by SHDC may help with this issue.

684. To receive update on Cemetery- Cllr Clark to chase, Clerk reported that the box hedges along the cemetery path have been trimmed.
 
685. To receive update on Community Speedwatch and TRO Boston Road- Cllr Ascough reported on 2025 activity- 4509 vehicles and been checked of which 101 vehicles had been reported to Lincs Community Speedwatch, with an average speed of 46.51 mph. A schedule is in place for 2026.
 
686. To consider subscribing to the LALC Annual Training scheme- Resolved to subscribe, at a cost of £170.00 plus vat and new Councillors were reminded that they should attend the New Councillor training sessions
 
687. To consider quotation for cleaning Gosberton Risegate War Memorial: A quotation has been received for this work, and the Clerk has submitted a pre-application for funding towards the works. The War Memorials trust require further information and additional quotes. Clerk to action
