Village Maintenance person required

VACANCY: Village Maintenance Contractor(s)
Gosberton Parish Council invite applications of interest from self-employed individuals (Limited Company or Sole Trader) to fulfil the village maintenance duties for Gosberton and Gosberton Risegate, to include the village cemetery, playing fields, war memorials, allotments, notice areas, waste bins, and other miscellaneous areas as appropriate.
The areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
• Grass cutting and strimming (excluding the large playing field areas)
• Cutting and maintaining the hedgerows, shrubs, and borders
• Weed control
• Grave marking, building up, and testing headstone stability
• Pest control
• Regular litter picking, emptying bins, and replacing liners (general and dog waste)
• Regular inspection and maintenance of village amenities such as notice boards, benches, railings, posts, paths, play equipment etc, including cleaning, painting, and repair where possible
• Liaison with other contractors/ persons such as tree surgeons, grave diggers, pest control specialists etc
• Inspection of allotments and clearing/ maintenance of vacant plots
• Managing and cleaning speed equipment and signage
• Supporting the councillors with the village inspections and actions arising from the inspections.
It is anticipated these duties will require your commitment for approximately 2.5 days on average each week, with flexibility to work more hours from Spring to Autumn and there being a limited maintenance and repair role in Winter. We invite applications from individuals interested in all or some of the duties, split into the following two groups:
1. cemetery and playing fields
2. litter management, war memorials, allotments, and miscellaneous.
Persons responsible for weed control will require suitable qualification for the application of herbicides, or be willing to undergo appropriate training. Own equipment must be in full working order with safety protocols fully observed. Own Public Liability insurance is required.  Please also note that there will be some contact with bereaved families.
