Reducing social isolation and loneliness in older Veterans in the community

Royal Voluntary Service Lincolnshire is running a project for Older Veterans called Veterans – the old , new and future. The project is aimed at ensuring older veterans avoid social isolation and loneliness. As part of the project we have a social club in Spalding at the Spalding Services and Social Club on a Friday afternoon between 1pm and 3pm.

The club is supported by volunteers who themselves are ex or currently serving military personnel. We are working in collaboration with local military charities, regimental associations and RAF Stations and therefore able to access a wealth of information and support for our members as required.

We are also running a project for Older Veterans their widows/widowers and partners called Veterans in the Community. The project again is aimed at ensuring older veterans avoid social isolation and loneliness, this is accomplished by pairing up the Service User with a suitable volunteer.
